Testing and Repair of Electric/Hybrid Vehicles and Components
Course Aim
The qualification is essential to ensure the health and safety of individuals working on electric/hybrid vehicles and designed for technicians who maintain and repair electric/hybrid high voltage vehicle systems and components. The purpose and aim of this qualification is to provide technicians with the required level of skills and knowledge to carry out repairs on live high voltage vehicle electrical components and systems safely.
Course Objective
On completion of this course, technicians will be able to practically demonstrate that they have the skills required to repair high voltage vehicle electrical components and systems.
Technicians will gain knowledge of both low and high voltage technologies and an understanding of the dangers surrounding Electric Hybrid vehicles and the precautions to take to avoid potential injury to themselves and others.
The course contains the following criteria:
1. IMI SET WRITTEN ASSESSMENTS
The Level 4 written assessment ensures critical aspects of knowledge are addressed. The assessment has no marking scheme or model answers, as it is designed to be criterion referenced. Learners will either pass a written assessment or be referred.
2. IMI SET PRACTICAL ASSESSMENTS
The IMI set practical assessments ensure critical aspects of knowledge & skills are addressed.
These assessments are split into 3 sections:
Knowledge assessment (prior to practical tasks)
Observation by assessor
Practical tasks
Assessment & Certification
Awarding Body: Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI)
A: Practical Assessments, Oral Assessments and Written Assessment

Progression
This is the highest electric vehicle qualification.
North London Garages Can-bus diagnostics course would suppliment your diagnostics skills.
Notes
This course provides the knowledge and skills required to work on live high energy electrical components and associated systems.
Technicians should have a good level of electrical understanding and Individuals MUST already have achieved the Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid System Repair and Replacement 603/1468/0 (or an equivalent Electric/Hybrid industry qualification).
This course does not cover commercial or domestic electrical installations.
